Bedtime Stories, a devised production
Stratford Circus @ Old Town Hall, Stratford, February 2001
Director: Elaine Kidd Composer and Musical Director: David Munro Lighting Designer: Phillip Dexter
A devised production based on the dreams of the pensioner
participants. Eight pensioners go to bed and we see their various dreams in a
series of sequences including a singing vegetable garden, a squabbling family from
future dressed all in silver and a scrap heap, where all the broken and elderly
thing end up. The sequences are linked by the Sandman and the Dew Fairy who
guide the dreamers through their dreams. An improvised setting of bedspreads
and pillowcases pinned to the curtains of the hall provided the backdrop. Over
40 participants took part each taking several roles. (Costumes constructed by Stuart
Targett)
